For the first time, the Brewster Historical Society is hosting a farmers’ market that will feature local organic produce, artisan food products, coffee, honey, eggs, baked goods, live lobsters, flowers, starter plants and other goods.

In addition, the market at Windmill Village at Drummer Park will host different community groups on a weekly basis, kids activities, Alpaca wool spinning and docent tours of the historic windmill and and working blacksmith shop, according to market organizer Jane Weber.

There also will be knife sharpening, a kids playground on site and a Backyard Farmer Table.

You can purchase food and then have a picnic at tables in the park.  Well-behaved leashed dogs welcome.

Weber anticipates between 25 and 30 vendors, with many located in Brewster. Those currently confirmed or pending  include:

Alongshore Heirloom Farm
Bethany Seasons
Billingsgate Lobsters
Biltmore Wool Barn
Breakwater Fish
Cape Cod Cranberry Harvest
Dave’s Greens
Dirty Dan’s Cranberry
Edible Landscape
Elixir Confections

Weber, who proposed the market to the Brewster Historical Society, envisions the market as a new source of revenue for the organization and an enterprise that will put a greater spotlight on Windmill Village at Drummer Park, which is managed by the society.

The market will accept SNAP,  WIC and senior discounts.

Weber also notes that the market will be on Sunday, which is unique on the Cape.

On the weekends of July 2-3, Aug 26-27, as well as on Sept 3, the market will be sharing the park with the By The Bay Arts and Crafts Festival and The Castleberry Craft Fair, noted Weber.
