Deep inside a remote system of forbidding subterranean caves in Northern Spain called El Sidron, a once in a lifetime discovery of 49,000 year-old Neanderthal bones has been made.

It is within these caves that Paleontologist Antonio Rosas and Archaeologist Marco de la Rasilla are in their 11th year of excavation heading up a team of scientists from across Spain in an effort to reach back in time to solve the biggest Neanderthal puzzle of them all: why WE are here and Neanderthals are not.
