Join master metalsmiths and experienced jewelry artists Elisa Sullivan (Swirls Jewelry) and Laura Jane Bouton (LjBjewelry) in this exciting and challenging new class! All supplies and tools are included, and there is a lab fee for the metals used in class, payable in cash or check to the instructors at the first class (will vary depending on ring size) — around $20.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Through observation, classroom demonstration, and lectures, the student will learn about and then complete three jewelry projects in a studio environment. Students will learn various techniques such as soldering, sawing, annealing, forging, and polishing.
Students will be working with a micro torch, jeweler’s saw, and various hand tools.

Class 1
Familiarizing with tools and materials that will be used to create rings and bangle.
Practicing sawing and texturing copper metal sheet.

Class 2
Texturing/Sawing/Piercing /stamping
Sawing various shapes to then be used for soldering practice.

Class 3
Learning how to measure a ring.
Practice with soldering copper wire and various soldering techniques.

Class 4
Students begin with silver rings, picking the texture design they would like to create.

Class 5
Twisting and texturing wire.
Learning how to measure for a bangle.

Class 6
Continuing with ring or bangle projects. Students can also revisit and practice techniques learned in previous classes.

Classes 7 & 8
Learning finishing and polishing techniques.
