Cultural Center of Cape Cod presents the Juventas Summer Series, two free live stream concerts featuring performances by Juventas pianist and founding member Julia Scott Carey, and soprano Kelley Hollis. The Summer Series builds on the success of the ensemble’s popular Stay Home with Juventas series which premiered this spring at the beginning of the pandemic lockdown and reached an audience of over 12,000 people across the world.

Música de las Américas, the first concert in the series will showcase solo piano music by Latin-American composers and composers who were inspired by the music of Latin America. The program includes the world premiere of (re)interlude 1 by Boston University Faculty Ketty Nez, and the American premiere of On the Event Horizon by prolific opera composer Jorge Sosa. Also featured are America from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, El Salon Mexico by Aaron Copland, and works by Ernesto Lecuona, Moisés Moleiro, Juan María Solare, and Catarina Rock Varga. Musica de Las Americas will be held on Sunday, July 19th, at 3:00pm.

Songs of Our City will feature art songs by contemporary and historical Boston composers. The program includes songs by the “Boston Six,” a social group of composers who worked together in the early 20th century, among them Amy Marcy Beach and George Whitefield Chadwick. Also included are works by Leonard Bernstein, Michele Caniato, Oliver Caplan, Florence Price, and Kathryn Salfelder. Songs of Our City will be held on Sunday, August 16th, at 3:00pm.
