Sometimes, you have an idea for a poem, and so, once you sit down to write, you have a place to begin. And then there are times when nothing inspires, the blank page intimidates. One way to begin when you are drawing a blank is to turn to published poems and read closely not only for what the poem says but how it is said. You might be inspired by a phrase or a line, by a subject you hadn’t thought about, or by the poem’s structure. We will begin the class by reading some poems and talking about what we notice in both content and structure. We will also be looking for what might be called the energy of the poem. Then we will use that energy to begin our own poems inspired by something from the models.
Class Fee: Member Price: $35/ Non Member Price: $40
