Whether you’re an indie filmmaker, hobbyist, or social media content creator, you’re probably aware of how the world of film and television was impacted by the pandemic. Suddenly, working solo (and remotely) became pervasive. No longer able to take for granted all the tools normally at our disposal, we were left to our own devices— literally.

But here’s the silver lining: The world we’re living in today requires us, as filmmakers and content creators to be completely independent, capable of creating a short film without the use of special effects, advanced editing software, big budgets and unlimited resources. This forces us to master the fundamentals of filmmaking. And if you can tell an engaging story on a small, intimate scale with nothing but a cell phone and your own creativity, you can do anything.
