What Happened Here? Researching and Reckoning with Cape Cod’s Role in Slavery (at Waquoit Congregational Church)

Highfield Hall and Waquoit Congregational Church are partnering to bring the historical recovery organization, Atlantic Black Box (ABB), to Falmouth for a presentation on researching Cape Cod history.  This lecture will be held at the Waquoit Congregational Church.

This area has deep and longstanding ties to slavery that many are unaware of. Black and indigenous people were enslaved in households across the peninsula; local sea captains participated in the transatlantic slave trade; and merchant vessels plied a well-worn trade route down the eastern seaboard.
