A local legend in the 1930s, 40s and 50s, Tiggie Peluso was a fisherman for his generation. Whether setting trawl for halibut, trolling for stripers, shellfishing for quahogs or scallops, or casting for trout, Tiggie did it all and was good at it all. His stories are compelling and tell of a time long gone and a way of life very different from today.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Sandy began a long career as a shellfish biologist and conservation administrator. Later, she earned a master’s degree in resource management from the Antioch New England Graduate School. She is the founder of Coastal Resource Specialists, a consulting company devoted to shellfish, coastal and watershed issues. She has written several books, including the award-winning Tiggie: The Lure and Lore of Commercial Fishing in New England.
