Dates: Twice monthly, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays
Time: 6:00pm–9:00pm
Location: 2nd Sunday meetings held upstairs in the Black Box; 4th Sunday meetings held at the Antons’ home in Centerville.

Our mission is to provide emerging and established playwrights a twice-monthly FREE forum to workshop and develop scripts in progress.

Led by playwrights James and Jean Anton and hosted by Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Playwrights Lab will be a place where plays-in-progress are shared, discussed, and nurtured in a community of peers. Membership is open to local playwrights who wish to refine and improve their work through thoughtful critique and discussion.

Meetings will occur on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the Center, and on the 4th Sunday at the Antons’ home.

The first meeting of The Playwrights Lab is Nov 10 at the Center, 6–9pm, in the upstairs classroom of the Black Box. The second meeting will take place at the same time on Nov 24 at the Antons’ home in Centerville.

It is essential to a play’s development to hear it read aloud, and whenever possible, actors will cold-read from a playwright’s script. If actors are not available, member playwrights will read. Actors who are interested in doing cold reads (as well as contributing feedback to playwrights) are encouraged to become members of the Lab.

The Playwrights Lab will also support members by sourcing venues that are open to new work and sharing information on play-writing contests, submission opportunities, and grants.

Membership is free of charge, but will be limited to available space. To join the Lab, contact Jean and James Anton at jean@theplaywrightslab.org and/or james@theplaywrightslab.org.
