Explore the biodiversity of the deep ocean area called the twilight zone with Dr. Simon Thorrold, Senior Scientist and fish ecologist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). He uses satellite tags to follow big fish like sharks, swordfish, tunas, and rays, as they dive deep into the twilight zone to feed.

By following these large predatory feeders, we can learn more about what they are eating and discover productivity hotspots where the team can deploy the latest technology to sample and observe a complete food chain. Dr. Thorrold’s tracking work is crucial to informing policies for protecting these big fish.
