Samantha Gray presents:  History of Cape Cod Canal Bridges

So much of the focus today is on the future of the bridges that span the Cape Cod Canal. After all, these structures provide a vital link in this community and region. Today’s program, however, will have us looking back in time. What spanned the waterway before? How did our bridges come to be? And what was their impact? With the aid of historic images and film, we’ll explore these stories and more.

Samantha Gray is a US Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger Gray at the Cape Cod Canal, where she manages the Canal’s Interpretive Services and Outreach Programs, as well as the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center located in Sandwich, MA. Her work has her revealing and relating the Canal’s unique history, features and operations to thousands of people of all ages. For her work, she has been selected by USACE for multiple awards including regional ‘Interpreter of the Year’ and the American Recreation Coalition’s ‘Legends Award’. Ranger Gray has been with the US Army Corps of Engineers for 27 years. She has a degree in Conservation of Natural Resources from Long Island University.
