LANCE WALKER
Lance’s journey. Lance Walker is primarily a self-taught artist who resides on Cape Cod. He focuses mainly on landscape and maritime subjects. He completes most of his studio work from plein air studies, his imagination and his experience. Understanding the necessity of painting from life, he paints outdoors to gain what he calls “visual understanding” and “color notes”. He says “early in my plein air experience, I was overly concerned with completing a painting. Now, I simply gather information.”

Lance’s inspiration comes from the Hudson River School artists. He travels throughout New England and America to paint the places they painted, like the Oxbow, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, to better understand the landscape painting experience.

Lance gives demonstrations to various art associations, teaches the plein air experience to artist and contributes to various charities. He has participated in exhibitions at the Copley in Boston, The Cahoon Museum and a solo show at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Cape Cod Art Association.  His work can be seen at “Art of the Sea Galleries” in South Thomaston, Maine and “Lance Walker Fine Art” in Dennis, Massachusetts.
