Immerse yourself in assemblage collage using found, scavenged, and repurposed objects and materials while looking at relevant pieces in the PAAM collection.

Provincetown has a history of artists from mid 20th Century to today who reassemble traditional notions of making to assemble new narratives in art. This hands-on studio class will investigate the assemblage process: the technicalities of construction, the poetic materiality of plucking objects from their original use context, and how PAAM’s collection acts as a guide and jumping off point to explore assemblage. Some important artist in context from the collection are Paul Bowen, Elspeth Halvorsen, Bailey Bob Bailey, Varujan Boghosian, Mike Wright, and Breon Dunigan.
