During this hands on workshop participants will explore assemblage boxes as a way of combining similar or seemingly unrelated objects to express ideas, display collections, or memorialize people or events. They will look at the work of  assemblage artists, such as Joseph Cornell, and consider such elements as shape, texture, color, material, text, and repetition, and will utilize these design elements in the creation of their own pieces. No previous art, craft, or assemblage experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to gather found objects, ephemera, collections of small objects, and personal mementos that they may like to include in their art. Also any boxes, tins, or other containers.
