Deborah Forman interviewed the Abstract Expressionist artist Robert Motherwell, part of the Familial exhibition, twice. She talked to him in his summer home in Provincetown for the Cape Cod Times and again at his turn-of-the-century, converted carriage house and studio in Greenwich, Connecticut, for Boston Magazine. Deborah will share her personal recollections of the man and the artist. She will bring you up close to Motherwell, who made history as part of the Abstract Expressionist movement, which launched America into dominance in the art world. As part of the New York School, he brought its influence to Provincetown, where he spent more than thirty summers making art, galvanized by its seaside light.

This lecture is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Familial which highlights the relationships of our regional artists through artworks curated from the CCMoA Permanent Collection.
