Even though monotype printing is traditionally used to make a single print, “ghosts” and “cognates” (second prints) can offer a pleasant surprise!

June 28-29; 9:30 am to 3:30 pm – Cost: $180.00 – $205.00

This is a two-day printmaking workshop. All levels of printmaking experience are welcome:  beginners too! Get to know the fundamentals of ink, paper and press use, along with the tools of the studio, the unique qualities of Akua Water-based Inks, and innovative monotype methods.

Monotype technique is a versatile way of making one-of-a-kind prints that encourages visual surprise, and allows for chance moments to loosen up any art making practice. Even though monotype printing is traditionally used to make a single print, “ghosts” and “cognates” (second prints) can offer a pleasant surprise!

We will play and improvise in this workshop as a means to generate ideas, expand visual vocabularyand take a deep dive into the many ways of approaching monotypes. This workshop will provide guided experiences in a variety of monotype techniques including additive and subtractive painterly approaches as well as transfer drawing, using stencils and adding collage into the mix. We will work on basic composition and developing personal imagery through individual attention and support.

Refunds will not be given within one month of the start of a workshop. Workshops are not pro-rated. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.
