November 7th and 8th, 9:30am – 12:30pm. Fee: $95.00 – $110.00

Instead of buying bland and impersonal greeting cards to celebrate important events in the lives of your family members and friends, this workshop offers you the opportunity to make these cards yourself from your own unique knowledge and appreciation of the person involved.  You don’t need to be an artist to do this; in fact, it’s more fun for everyone if you’re not.

1st Day
Illustration methods:  watercolor pencils, watercolors, ink markers.
Substrate: watercolor paper.
You will practice and get familiar with these media to achieve truly
“hand-crafted” signature work.
Ideas: start casting around for ideas about the person involved and occasion.  Make rough designs.

2nd Day
Ideas (continued): good ideas often come at odd times when you are doing something else, or after your unconscious has had time to work.  The person’s favorite interests, hobbies, activities, relationships, personal quirks or eccentricities usually lead to ideas.  You can exaggerate and be humorous!

Make the card: sketching a rough design first in an erasable black pencil may help.  Be prepared to discard and try again several times to get a card that satisfies you.  You have plenty of paper and media to use, and you may even get better ideas or illustration methods as you proceed.

When the person getting your final card laughs–or hugs you–then you know it was worth it. And you can feel confident about doing this time and time again for the enjoyment of family and friends and yourself.

REFUND POLICY:
Refunds will not be given within one month of the start of a workshop. Workshops are not pro-rated. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.
