In-Person: Natural Dyes and Shibori With Milisa Moses

This workshop will cover the foundations of natural dyeing and how to impart geometric patterns onto fabrics using folding techniques and a wood resist. This traditional shibori technique, also known as itajime, blocks out areas of the fabric where the dye cannot penetrate, creating kaleidoscope-like patterns. Participants will design and dye their own piece. Students will also walk away with a better understanding of the natural materials used to makes dyes as well as the multi-step process of preparing and dyeing fabrics effectively.
