It’s an election year, so we’re hitting the trail with campaign and inauguration memorabilia associated with past presidents, running mates, and also-rans–from George Washington and U.S. Grant to JFK and Richard Nixon.

John Harris collected many of the items from 1940-1961.  After World War II, the veteran made a career as a political reporter for the Boston Globe.  While covering events, he collected souvenirs of party conventions, rallies, debates and other events related to FDR, JFK, Adlai Stevenson and Dwight D. Eisenhower. His daughter, Mary Harris (the Museums’ former Treasurer), donated the collection to us.
