This workshop series will explore plants and their opportunity for color.

We’ll look at the landscape to invoke inspiration and we’ll work both native and prolific plants found on the Cape that can be used to make a palette of colors for creative projects: dyes, inks, and dried pigments. The first class is a guided walk through the woods of the National Seashore. We’ll talk about plants in their habitat, their history in dye/pigment making and how they can be turned from plant to pigment. In the second, hands-on class, we’ll work with a variety of plants to render color for your art practice, creating a truly unique palette. Classes can be taken as a series or on their own.
