While Falmouth produced nobody as heroic as Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, colonel of the 54th Massachusetts  Volunteer Infantry (immortalized in the movie “Glory”), it sent its fair share of combat soldiers and sailors to the Union forces during the Civil War.  Since Falmouth was a staunchly abolitionist town, this talk will discuss some of those who fought and died for the Union cause. In this special lecture given by Falmouth resident Michael McNaught come hear fascinating stories about the soldiers and the memorials erected in their honor. The event is a collaboration between the Falmouth Historical Society and the Oak Grove Cemetery of Falmouth, INC.
