This is a studio course where students will be painting, drawing, and working with a host of multi-media. Through a number of fun experiments, participants will be learning the connection between Realism and Abstraction. The class will be exploring and creating with unlimited materials and even technology to explore basic elements of art: line, shape, tone, and color. Students will see how abstraction relates to real life experiences. All art has evolved through ideas and concepts that come out of the real world, so we will be exploring various art movements from the beginning of the 20th century to the present as it pertains to the concept. This is a course for any level, and the emphasis is to have each student discover their own expression. Each week there will be an abstract concept and idea to explore which will be centered with the individual student’s interests in mind.
