Creating a Character (or, The Art of Doing Nothing: Ensemble, Extras, and Background Work)

We all know what to do when we’re the lead or a major supporting character, but the background performers help to set the mood. Whether you’re onstage or on set, directors appreciate an actor who can immerse themselves in the world the director has envisioned and create a genuine atmosphere. This class will discuss the art form of doing “nothing” as both stage and screen ensemble with an emphasis on continuity, consistency, and creating a believable world that both the audience and all the actors in the scene can be fully immersed in.
