Join us for this 2-day intensive workshop with Painter Elaine Tata. Explore the magic of painting in oil and cold wax medium or CWM. Cold wax medium is composed of mainly beeswax, with a small amount of solvent to soften it. It has a soft, paste-like consistency (like frosting) at room temperature and dries to a matte surface. Unlike encaustic processes, CWM requires no heat. CWM adds body to oil paint, speeds up drying time, and allows light movement in your paintings, giving a luminous surface, allowing artists to build up beautiful textural effects and layers. The class will cover all the basics to understand how and why you might want to incorporate CWM into your artistic practice. Compositions from small studies in semi-abstract to abstract still life and landscapes will be completed, leading to larger oil and cold wax works. A materials list will be sent.
