Chatham Marconi Speaker Series is Back: Discovering The Cape Cod Shoreline

Gil Newton, a Cape Cod native who has been teaching environmental and marine science at Sandwich High School and the Cape Cod Community College will speak on Discovering the Cape Cod Shoreline. He will discuss marine plants and animals along the Cape Cod shoreline, their ecology, and the diverse habitats in which they are found.

Participants will learn about the local beaches, salt marshes, sand dunes, tide pools, and rocky areas. There is a fascinating diversity of life along the edge of the sea and the audience will be able to examine preserved samples of marine mollusks, crabs, echinoderms, horseshoe crabs, seaweeds, and other common species.

Newton will speak on Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at 7:00 PM. Reservations for this virtual event may be made at this link. Registration for either in-person seating or Zoom webinar participation is $10. Registrants are permitted to link one computer to the Zoom webinar. In-person seating is limited.
