Explore the figure in various mediums: painting, digital photography, wax, wood, and more.

Any one or all of these materials can be used by students to “construct” their work. Students can pursue the combination and intersection of paint and photography with 3D construction. Demonstrations will be held on tools, materials, and processes. All students will be critiqued daily on an individual basis. Students may therefore be working on quite different projects. We will analyze the work of artists Anslem Kieffer, Robert Rauschenberg, Kiki Smith, Louise Bourgeois, Red Grooms/Mimi Gross, Vladmir Tatlin, Niki de Saint Phalle, Romare Bearden, Mel Edwards, and Lee Bontecou, all who have attempted to combine different processes/materials into their work. Wax can be purchased from instructor; some tools, wood and plaster will be available in the class. Models will be present during most sessions. All are welcome, regardless of level of experience.
