Painting Without a Plan

What happens when you approach a blank canvas with little idea of what your final painting will be? In this workshop, we’ll create a painting from a whisper of an idea, or none at all, building it through drawing, movement, alternative mark-making, and adding and excavating layers to find our composition, space, and subject. Paint free of the constraint of a preconceived end, and be inspired by the process, making decisions along the way to reveal a coherent engaging artwork.
Bring source material like sketchbooks, photos, memory. Work in your preferred medium, acrylic or oil. Encaustic workspaces can be arranged.
