ARTsparks! for 8 – 12 year olds – February school vacation week

Schedule February 15 – 19, 2021:

Monday: Science and Art with Maureen Grandmont This class will involve art activities as well as songs about the water cycle and clouds. Using The Cloud Book by Tomie Depaola as a starting point, the children will learn the three major cloud names and illustrate the water cycle.
Materials needed:  crayons, white drawing paper, cotton balls , glue, white chalk.

Tuesday:  Everything But the Kitchen Sink Multi-Media with Jennifer Blesso Your child will explore various media and art techniques based on their environment and imagination.
Materials needed:  most of the art supplies can be found in the stationary aisle of a grocery store with the exception of the clay and watercolor paper which can be found at Target, Walmart, or Michael’s. Supplies to have on handwatercolor paper, watercolors (Crayola is great), black sharpie, pencil, eraser, scissors, glue stick or Elmer’s white glue, paintbrushes of different sizes, paintbrush or popsicle sticks for spreading glue,  Tombow markers (Crayola markers will be okay), oil pastels or crayons,  8×11 printer paper, collage papers (paper bags, newspaper, wrapping paper, coffee filters, tissue paper), tempera paints (optional), white model magic or Crayola air dry clay.

Wednesday: Cooking with Kay – Muffin-tin meatloaves, cheesy mashed potatoes.  After you sign up, she will send you a list of ingredients to have on hand and suggested utensils.

Thursday: Crazy Mixed up Media with Karen Shortsleeve – A class that uses a variety of media to create works inspired by famous artists. This class will focus on Matisse & Miro inspired collage focusing on shape and color.

Friday: Theater Games and Improv with Lisa Jo Rudy – Love acting, pretending, or making up stories? Here’s your chance to have fun with acting without memorizing lines!  We’ll play theater games, improvise characters, and create our own skits.
