What are the different concerns when making monumental art, here defined as bigger than your body?

This immersive class will explore the human form in art from antiquity to today. Each morning begins with a presentation. Then, three hours of model time daily will be guided by exercises that demonstrate to each student what composition, shape and form can do when the intent is to make the figure both talisman and social statement. Critiques happen within a safe, lively discourse and a shared love of art. You will leave with very large roll-able art, sketches, maybe paintings and a whole new sense of scale to bring back to your own studio practice. Large paper for a fee will be provided in person. This is a hybrid in-person/Zoom class. In response to the pandemic, they created Shabott + Barrett, a virtual art school which partners with arts institutions
