McGuire’s painting is slowly changing from the contemporary landscapes he is known for to a more abstract take on his surroundings. The newer works are less about a specific location and more about capturing an imaginary place that evokes a mood or feeling that the viewer can become part of. The literal landscape has changed with the use of simple lines to denote objects and the addition of figures in some works to bring an more personal emotion to the viewer.
