WHAT TO EXPECT: This 4-week workshop for beginners teaches students to navigate landscape painting fundamentals using a plein-air method. Week 1 focuses on a 3-toned gradation and painting dimensional clouds, while week 2 focuses on the foreground and how color mixing lends itself to achieve an ideal atmosphere. Weeks 3 and 4 builds upon that foundation, with texture application and painting foliage and vegetation. No experience necessary and each student will receive individual attention.

EXTRAS: All materials are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own supplies if they have them.

DON'T FORGET: Dress to make art. This class is in the Abbott Studio upstairs in the Education Wing.

INSTRUCTOR: Dylan Griffin is a life-long Cape resident and artist, He graduated from Lesley University College of Art & Design with a BFA, Department of Illustration in 2015 and continued his studies at the Concept Design Academy in California from 2018-2019. Since then he has participated in a number of collaborative exhibitions both locally and on the west coast. His personal body of work features an assembly of original environment designs with a focus on nostalgia and our companionship with nature. Dylan works in his sketchbook every day, cherishes the drafting process, and is always looking forward to future creative endeavors.
