Fiber Group Monthly Meeting: Falmouth Art Center

Fiber Group Field Trip to Taylor Bray Farm

108 Bray Farm Road North

Yarmouth Port, MA

At our last meeting we chatted about a delightful yearly event at Taylor Bray Farm in Yarmouth Port. Many members expressed an interest, so we decided to turn our June meeting into a field trip to the farm. There will be sheep shearing and demonstrations of sheep herding. Members from the Cape Cod Spinners group will be there spinning and selling their spun yarn. Please know there is more information online about the farm.

The event begins at 9:00. Please let Christine know if you are interested and if you would like to carpool. Some of our members expressed in interest in going to Salt Yarn in Dennis after the visit to Taylor Bray.

Taylor-Bray Farm 25th Annual Sheep Festival Details:

June’s beautiful weather plus the farm’s biggest event of the year, attracts a huge crowd. Our sheep are sheared and a demonstration of sheep herding by well trained dogs is presented. Local craftspeople show off their wool dying, spinning and weaving techniques. A variety of wool products are on sale.

Kids – and parents and grandparents too – love seeing the new lambs with the other animals. Everybody enjoys hayrides along the Don McIntyre Trail through the woods.

The silent auction to raise money for the care of the animals and maintenance of the farm has a fascinating array of items donated by our supporters. If your bid doesn’t earn you what you wanted, you can stock up on Taylor-Bray hats, tee-shirts and activity books.
