Experience Your Estuary!
Celebrate Waquoit Bay for National Estuaries Day as part of National Estuaries Week and Cape Cod Clean Water Week! We love Waquoit Bay for its beauty, recreational opportunities, incredible ecosystem benefits and want to hear why you love it too. Join us to experience your estuary!
This year’s theme is Experience Your Estuary were we will celebrate our sense of place and everything that makes Waquoit Bay unique – recreation, beauty, ecosystem, culture, history. We will be joined with partner organizations including Citizens for the Protection of Waquoit Bay, Falmouth Pond Coalition, Massachusetts Oyster Project, Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage, and Friends of the Waquoit Bay Reserve.
National Estuaries Day began in 1988 to promote the importance of estuaries and the need to protect them. In partnership with the National Estuaries Program, National Estuarine Research Reserve Association, Restore America’s Estuaries, and many other organizations, we have extended the festivities to a whole week. It is an annual celebration and campaign to increase public awareness of estuaries and to encourage people to become involved in the protection of these important natural resources.
