· Brewster sea captains witness the Krakatoa volcano event famous for its cataclysmic eruption on August 26–28, 1883, which destroyed most of the original island, produced the loudest sound in recorded human history, and killed over 36,000 people via massive tsunamis

· Citizen’s, Nickerson and Crosby, and the Great Chicago Fire

· Helen Keller, Annie Sullivan and Sophia Hopkins

· Joseph Lincoln and Horatio Alger. Two different authors

· Howard Gibbs, artist with the WPA

· Civilian Conservation corps and the development of the Nickerson State Park
