What: Kruger Brothers-Cape Cod Premiere Performance

Description: Celebrate the Kruger Brothers’ premiere Cape Cod performance. Born and raised in Europe, brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger started singing and playing instruments at a very young age. The brothers grew up in a family where music was an important part of life and they were exposed to a wide diversity of musical influences. The Kruger Brothers won Steve Martin’s Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass Music in 2013, and along with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, won the National Endowment for the Arts Access to Artistic Excellence in 2007. Since their formal introduction to American audiences in 1997, the Kruger Brothers’ remarkable discipline, creativity, and ability to infuse classical music into folk music has resulted in a unique sound that has made them a fixture within the world of acoustic music. Description: A 2-hour workshop that breathes new life into cherished fabric pieces. Recycled Fabric Collage is a class designed for anyone with a desire to transform old clothing, cherished textiles, and assorted embellishments into a stunning piece of art. Whether it’s a garment that holds special memories, vintage lace that’s too beautiful to discard, or yarns and buttons you’ve collected over time, this workshop offers you the space to create something truly meaningful. Bring any special fabrics and trims you would like to use and fabric scissors if you have them. Basic supplies will be available in class. Description: Louise Bichan is a USA-based Scottish musician and photographer who uses both mediums to tell stories, old and new. Growing up in the remote but culturally rich Orkney islands, a place where creativity abounds and playing music has been a part of the social fabric for centuries, gave Louise a solid grounding in music. Masterfully blending traditional and classical arrangements, her music is thoughtful and complex, curious and playful. She composes in response to her roots and the world around her, weaving through stories of connection to people, nature, the past, and the possibility of the future. Description: A gallery talk with curator Amanda Wastrom, who will highlight some of the many women artists featured in the Impressionist New England: Four Seasons of Color and Light exhibition. Description: Workshop Leader: Diane Hanna. For ages 18 and up. Pre-registration required. Limited to 10 participants. The Barnstable Land Trust and Cotuit Library are delighted to announce a free workshop led by Cotuit writer and artist Diane Hanna. She is also a Words in the Wild poet whose work can be experienced at Ropes Field. Diane will use engaging prompts to help participants freely express themselves and their appreciation for the natural world. The atmosphere will be curious, playful, and open. Participants should bring a notebook and writing implement. Attendance will be limited to ten so all participants who wish to share their work will have time to do so. This program is part of the Barnstable Land Trust’s “Words in the Wild” program, which posts poetry along BLT trails, and was made possible by grants from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Description: Drop in at the Crowell Barn this Saturday to watch the students at work. The Art of Decoy Making Workshop, led by Master Woodcarver, painter, and decoy maker, Paul Phillips, demonstrates the traditional folk art of bird carving and painting. Visitors will be able to view our carvers at work in the original woodshop of world-renowned decoy artist Anthony Elmer Crowell, and learn about future opportunities to sign up for decoy making classes at the Barn!

Description: Join us at Sturgis Library as we combine tea and art. Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to gather, sip tea, and sketch.
