Websites for Artists & Makers Workshop

Monday-Thursday July 15-18; 1pm-4pm in the Schoolhouse

4 classes; $225/$191 members

This workshop with Bonnie Mccormick is for artists, makers, and creatives of all types who want a website — one that can be managed by the artist, with no coding knowledge needed. This 4-day class will be hands-on, working with SquareSpacewebsites,* and we’ll get your site up and going in just a few days! You’ll leave with what you have learned and be able to update and expand your site, on your own.

We will Create a Professional Artist site:
– A landing page
– Home page & menu
– Typical gallery
– Contact page

We will talk about:
-How to work within SquareSpace
-Creating good habits
-What an artist site should have
-We will touch on branding — what is yours?
-Photography consistency, quality
-Image file formats and sizing
-Curating your art
-Helpful software
-Selling? (options)
-Writing for your site (what do you want to say?)

What you need for the Workshop:
1. Digital images of your work.
2. 1 or 2 pieces of work that you want photographed (2D or 3D)
3. Laptop
4. Digital camera or Smartphone with camera
5. Photo imaging software**
6. ‘My Website’ form filled out (received after registration)
7. Humor

*Squarespace does have a free trial period. No purchase required, just be aware that sites created that week ‘disappear’ unless converted to a paid Squarespace site (can be as little as $12 per month).
**Adobe Cloud Photoshop does offer free trial subscriptions — a CC is needed, and will be charged unless canceled at the end of the trial period.
