Wampanoag and Nantucket as One

Learn about the rich culture and history of the Wampanoag people and how they are one with Nantucket.

The Wampanoag have fished, hunted, gathered, planted on these lands for thousands of years and have honored the nurturing ways of mother earth.  Learn about the cultural values of the Wampanoag as they go through their seasonal cycle and celebrations to the creator.

This lecture will also present a rare opportunity to see a mishoon (dugout canoe). This authentic mishoon was crafted by Darius Coombs from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for the NHA.     This presentation will show how it was created from start to finish.
