Ryan Dotie never imagined herself on the front lines of a war halfway around the world. But a conversation with an Army recruiter in her high-school cafeteria changed the course of her life.  After being hired as a linguist in Military Intelligence, she needed to find a space for herself in the testosterone-filled world of the Army barracks. She was holding her own until the unthinkable happened: she was raped by a fellow soldier. The course of her life changed again. While struggling with PTSD and commanders who didn’t trust her story, she found herself fighting an unexpected war, one of isolation and trauma.  Formation is her extraordinary journey to prove her worth, physically and mentally, in a world where the odds are stacked against her.
