In conjunction with our new exhibit, The Portland Gale of 1898: The 19th Century’s Perfect Storm, Don Wilding with talk in more detail about the storm that devastated the east coast from Long Island to Portland, Maine.

An award-winning writer and editor for Massachusetts newspapers for thirty years, Don Wilding pens the “Shore Lore” history column for the Cape Codder newspaper of Orleans. He is the author of Shipwrecks of Cape Cod; Henry Beston’s Cape Cod: How the Outermost House Inspired a National Seashore; and A Brief History of Eastham.
