Painting prompts looking, curiosity, production, and stimulation.

This four-day intensive workshop will consist of multiple daily exercises, or prompts, to train the painter to be definitive, intuitive, and find freedom in their painting practice. Individual and collaboration prompts will be assigned after the instructor’s demonstration. Color mixing, paint application, and subject matter will be discussed. Group and individual evaluation of prompt outcomes will be a daily component of the workshop. Participants will leave the workshop with a sense of confidence and new ideas about approaching the medium to as a well-rounded and prolific painter. We will start each session with a brief visit to the museum to look at relevant paintings to enlighten and inspire the class participants.

Some painting experience is recommended. Students can work in either acrylic or oil-based paint. This class is for the beginning to advanced painter.
