Outside of the Box: Slab Construction

By using a variety of hand-building techniques, with emphasis on slab construction, we will use soft and firm slabs, use the slab roller, and make our own slabs by hand. Focusing on proportion, configuration and integrated surface, we will create sculptural forms using demonstrations as well as individual meetings. In this class, you will learn technical processes such as construction methods, surface treatments, textures, stains, and glazing. Students will acquire new skills and ideas, and the confidence to develop them in their own work. Tie up those apron strings and get ready to get dirty! All levels welcome, especially newbies. A sense of humor is required.
