This class, delivered via Zoom, will combine the reflective practices of meditation with journaling and/or sketching. Students will settle into a quiet and comfortable space with a notebook or paper and a writing instrument and embark on a journey of self-discovery, using a 3-step format. During each class, they will be guided in a mindfulness meditation, followed by a period of writing or sketching in response to a prompt, ending with an opportunity to share and discuss the experience. Sharing is always voluntary and is not required. There should be time to cycle through the 3-step format more than once using different prompts each time. Mindfulness is paying attention to what is happening in the moment, externally and internally, with kindness and curiosity. Journaling or sketching in this workshop uses a stream-of-consciousness approach, during which the student simply records thoughts, emotions, and feelings as they arise.
