Oil Painting Techniques with Lance Walker

Whether you are just learning to paint or if you are continuing to develop your skills Lance will cover all the basics that you will need in developing a painting practice. We will explore techniques, color theory and application, and composition; and a variety of subject matter including landscapes, still lifes, urban scenes and more. We will begin with painting from a photo in the subject of your choice or you may continue with any unfinished painting you may have. Lance will meet you where you are and tailor his lessons individually to you. This class meets in Lance’s Studio on the upper level of the Education Wing.

MATERIALS
Easel, 14×18 canvas pad or roll (stretched canvases or panels unnecessary), Board to mount canvas, tape or tacks.
Oils: ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, cadmium red, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium yellow light, burnt sienna, greenish umber, titanium white, alkyd white.
Oil brushes: large, medium, small and detail
Liquin.
Odorless mineral spirits (Gamsol) by Gamblin preferred.
