Nature’s Year

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History was recently gifted a portfolio of twelve illustrations designating each month of the year, by artist David Grose, from the family of Susan Clark Shealey, daughter of Ruth and Admont Clark. Nationally known for his book illustrations, Grose’s stunning prints from original woodcut engravings and pen drawings, illustrated the book Nature’s Year by author, naturalist, and conservationist John Hay. Additionally, Grose illustrated two other John Hay books; The Run and The Great Beach. The Groses, Clarks, and Hays were among those that had the vision to begin what was to become the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
