Location: Harwich, Herring River
Audience: Adult
Members: $60.00/ Nonmembers: $70.00

The Herring River is the mid-Cape’s largest freshwater system and much of its shoreline and surrounding uplands are preserved. We will skirt cedar swamps as we paddle from freshwater to saltwater looking for birds and other wildlife.

Currents and winds are a factor to consider and sustained periods of paddling may be required of participants. Recent, previous paddling experience is required.

Instructions and Directions:
Pre-registration is required. Recent paddling experience and good swimming ability are required. To ensure the safety of all participants, the kayak trip leader reserves the right to deny further participation to paddlers who do not demonstrate adequate paddling ability. Directions to the meeting place will be given upon registration.

This trip meets on Bell’s Neck Road in Harwich. Directions will be provided upon registration.

Please arrive on time for the start of the program. Note that the ending time for kayak trips is approximate. We make every effort to finish the trip by the ending time listed but because we are dealing with wind, tide and differing degrees of experience on the part of the participants, there is always the possibility that the trip will run longer than anticipated. For this reason, we suggest that you not count on the trip ending at the time listed and plan accordingly.

Participants may choose among available single kayaks or bring their own kayak. All equipment is provided; all participants must wear life jackets. We recommend that you bring sunscreen, windbreaker, hat, and drinking water. There are no facilities, such as restrooms or water fountains, at the meeting places.

Please note our cancellation policy: In order to receive a refund, you must notify us of your cancellation at least 7 days before the program begins. If we cancel the program, you will receive a full refund. We reserve the right to change programs, schedules, and instructors, and to cancel programs due to low enrollment or unfavorable weather.

Registration is required. Call 508-349-2615 to register. Online registration is not available for this program.  Register by mail: program registration form (PDF 66K)
