As part of Cape Cod ArtWeek, drop-in for a gallery talk on A. Elmer Crowell, the most famous and talented bird carver – and Cape Cod native. In this program, Assistant Curator, Amanda Wastrom, will guide participants on an exploration of the artistry and craftsmanship found in Crowell’s decoys, on display in the Heritage Highlights exhibit area of the American Art & Carousel Gallery. Amanda will discuss the man behind the birds, and share insights into his artistic process. View examples of Crowell’s best work, alongside tools, patterns, and other objects from his workshop – all part of Heritage’s permanent collection. Participants will even be able to touch and closely examine bird carvings from our educational object collection. This program is free with admission. No advance registration required.

Fee: General admission; $21 for adults, $11 youth
