Monoprinting is a painterly approach to printmaking.
It is a perfect fit for the artist who wants to explore new methods and make a series of related works. After “pulling” an initial print on an etching press, a residual image remains on the plate. Creating a series is organic as the artist reworks the plate and pulls another print. In this class each participant will create unique works on paper using a variety of printmaking techniques. The techniques covered in the four day workshop include the use of brayers and rollers, blends or rainbow rolls, brush work, stencils, registration methods for overprinting, and pochoir. We will be working on plexiglas plates with oil based inks in a “green” manner. You will need to bring some paint brushes you like to use. Archival cotton rag paper is available for purchase in the studio.
